My Bonsai Plant Losing Leaves How To Save Your Bonsai From Dying

Unfortunately, we get these cries for help quite often on our forums. Taking care of a Bonsai Plant can be a bit overwhelming for beginners, but with this guide you should be fine. We'll investigate the causes of your tree losing leaves and the remedies!

Why does a Bonsai drop its leaves?

There is a difference between indoor Bonsai and outdoor bonsai.

Indoor Bonsai

Indoor Bonsai should be kept above 60 degrees Fahrenheit (15 degrees Celsius) throughout the year, meaning that in most climates they need to be kept indoors during winter time. Most indoor Bonsai species (Ficus, Carmona, etc) do not drop their leaves, unless there is a problem:

Overwatering is a common reason when the indoor Bonsai is planted in poor soil that retains too much water. A few months of overwatering will lead to root-rot, only visible in the tree losing strength and dropping its leaves. You should water only when the soil gets slightly dry and once the tree does better, repot it in better soil.

Under-watering is also common. A Bonsai is placed in a tiny pot and therefore doesn't have much reserves. If you forget to water your tree, the roots die off and the tree will die. While with overwatering the tree would slowly lose strength, with under-watering the tree will drop its leaves within days. There is no cure unfortunately, so make sure you keep an eye on your tree and don't forget to water it.

Another problem, especially when a Bonsai is placed indoors, is poor light. Place your tree right in front of a window, preferably facing south. The tree needs lots of light!

Outdoor Bonsai

Outdoor Bonsai need to be kept outside, year round. Typical outdoor Bonsai species include the Juniper and the Chinese Elm. The Juniper is an evergreen, while the Elm is a deciduous tree that drops its leaves (or at least part of it) during autumn and winter. Assuming your tree is losing leaves not because of the season, but due to a problem, this is what you should be looking at:

Again, overwatering is a common issue. Watering too often, while the tree is planted in a soil mixture that retains too much water, will lead to root-rot and the plant dropping its leaves. Make sure you only water when needed; when the soil gets slightly dry.

Another reason could be that your tree has a pest or disease, which should be visible on your tree.

Finally, too much or too little fertilization will lead to your tree losing strength and dropping leaves.

Mbp Bearings: Cylindrical Ball Bearing Dealer India

Cylindrical roller bearings offer excellent resistance to instantaneous overloads and shocks. They simplify assembly thanks to their detachable elements and allow, for certain types, axial displacement or low axial load, for other types.

Cages

The standard cage for these bearings is the polyamide cage which allows bearing operating temperatures of 120°C or 248°F (150° or 302°F peak). The standard cage for series 4 is in pressed steel. The machined brass cage is available on option. Large-dimension bearings are equipped with a machined brass cage. For special applications in which the synthetic material cage is unacceptable, a metal cage can be provided on request.

Capabilities

Loads and speeds

Cylindrical roller bearings are designed to

Withstand radial loads

Withstand moderate axial loads if the position of the shoulders on the rings allows them accept high speeds of rotation

Misalignment

Cylindrical roller bearings accept misalignment of about 0.06° thanks to the correction on the roller surface profile

3D Natir Puja To Be Screened In Bangladesh

A 3D colour recreation of the only film of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore ever made, "Natir Puja" (1932), is expected to be screened in Bangladesh.

The film, unveiled in this year's Cannes Film Market, has been revived by Professor Karl Bardosh, Hungarian-born American academic and filmmaker, after it was destroyed in a 1933 fire in the warehouse of New Theatres studio in Kolkata, reports our New Delhi correspondent.

Bardosh said that he filmed it on the very soundstage in New Theatres where Tagore shot “Natir Puja" based on Tagore’s dance-drama.

Bardosh, who has taught in New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, Kanbar Institute of Film and Television, for two decades, said, "As a researcher, my interest in Tagore goes back a long, long way. I have always wanted to make a film inspired by his work."

Filmed in 3D by Dutch cinematographer Leonard Retel Helmrich, who devised the innovative "single shot cinema" technique, "Natir Puja features Sujata Awon Pradhan's Kolkata-based dance group Nrityalok.

Noted Rabindrasangeet exponent Jayati Chakraborty gave her voice on the film’s soundtrack.

"Natir Puja had its world premiere last week at the New York Indian Film Festival before making the trip to Cannes.

Bardosh said, "I will travel to Bangladesh next. It will be screened for the country's Prime Minister. I am now looking for distributor in India and am in talks with a couple of leading exhibitors."

He said the idea of recreating “Natir Puja” came with the intention of marking the centenary of both Indian cinema and the conferment of the Nobel Prize on Tagore.

"I see myself as only a medium. It is Tagore's hand that has driven me to realise this dream," says Bardosh.

Pivotal Secures $253M From Ford and Microsoft

Pivotal, the platform as a service company spun out from VMware and EMC three years ago, today announced plans to close a series C financing round worth $253 million led by Ford, Microsoft and its existing investors GE and its two parent companies.

Pivotal is one of the leading vendors behind the Cloud Foundry PaaS, the commercialized version of the open source project. Cloud Foundry provides an environment for developers to build applications; it provisions the infrastructure needed to run and scale them.

Perhaps most interesting about the announcement are the new investors: Ford and Microsoft. Ford follows GE as an investor in the company, indicating its heavy use of CF and its desire to ensure the company’s future viability and success. Ford last week launched FordPass, a consumer platform that the company says was built with Pivotal.

Executive Vice President of Microsoft Cloud and Enterprise Scott Guthrie said in a statement that investing in Pivotal is about ensuring that Microsoft Azure is equipped to run Java apps using Cloud Foundry. “Today’s announcement is a reflection of this commitment, along with our continued emphasis on choice and flexibility across our cloud platform,” Gurthie said.

Pivotal’s first quarter revenue rose 56% year over year to $83 million. The company says that seven of the top 10 U.S. banks, three of the top five global auto manufacturers and five of the top 10 telecommunications companies use Pivotal in some fashion. It has 2,000 employees in 17 offices around the world. It’s first two rounds of funding totaled $358 million and this round is expected to close this month.

Fashion Meets Festive

While there are no rules on how to wear in this busy time of the year, one upcoming fashion designer, Waabo Anwar, has decided to go all out and build fashion under a simple concept of skull art.

Skull art however is not a new culture. For centuries, skulls have been used as art and decoration and American artists started experimenting with skulls art in the1920s.

By the 1970s, skull imagery found its way into t-shirts, accessories and pop art. It was not until the last decade when we finally saw the popularisation of pop art. There are no boundaries in the way skulls can be used in art today and Anwar is one typical example of a local artist who decided to incorporate the culture in a unique way. See Full Story
